Default using amp without the back cover?

my ab1100 has an extremely long back cover and makes an awful tinging sound when turned up loud....i pulled the amp to see if the back cover was loose and it is not...but i can use 1 finger and tap the back cover and hear the awful tinging sound that easy, imagine that sound over 34inches of cover..its unacceptable..lol

anyone ran an amp without the rear cover installed?

add some deadener to the backplate. on the inside as long as it won't touch anything on the board and possibly cause a short, or on the outside if you aren't worried about cosmetics.

Do you have the amp mounted to the box?

Do what Jeffhulbert50 said, except just put the padding on the outside. I'm not sure I would like the idea of putting pressure on the inside of the amp like that.

Board is fully supported so there is no worries on that part... he can put foam behind the panel between the amp and mounting board

Just curious but It would almost seem like adding deadener would cause the amp to run a little warmer than usual?

I have done it before without any noticeable difference. I'm sure some heat is dissipated through the backplate, but most is definitely dissipated through the heatsink. There might be some vent holes in the backplate, maybe avoid covering those if anything.
