Default 2000+ A/B power

I was rooting through some of my stash and came across some of my old high power a/b amps and started wondering if these are pretty much past their expiration date in today's car audio environment? I myself still like the sound reproduction of a/b over d on subs as well as speakers but with mp3's and other low quality audio files does it really matter what the amp is anyways? Seems like most audio reproduction has been dirtied up over the past decade or so to not even mattering anymore.

Thoughts??

Typical class a/b 2 channel amps for subs. Same with 4 ch amps. Class D mainly made for mono amps for subs. I think overtime mfg companies have "separated" the class a/b and d. There was a class T for awhile but not sure if it died down or what.

It's the footprint. My 2,400w class A/B sub amp was the size of an M4a. It was hyoooj. Sexy as shit, but gigantic. Ain't nobody got room fo' dat.

I have a few class t as well and liked many of their features as well as g/h. I've tried every class I believe but still feel ab was the best at everything.

As of right now, Class G/H is where it's at as far as I'm concerned. It's the best compromise, I think. Close to A/B SQ but Class D efficiency and footprint. Win-win.

Some do lol. I have an ax-2000/ax-4300 amp rack under the backseat if my Tahoe. I do agree on the size however. I just got a z-2kd to mess around with and it is way small compared to one of my 2000's.

Love my Eclipse 34230 amp, makes 370w x 2 @4ohm and the distortion is super low, but its huge, about as big as a typical 2k Class D amp, so thats one reason those types of amps went out of style..not to mention the power requirements of Class A/B compared to Class D, especially with the larger models.

Yeah I actually have more difficulty with the power consumption more than the size. It has come to the point that I don't even post my big ab amps as they just will not bring any money anymore

Sorry can't say I've ever taken pics of it. Pretty generic look of mdf with amps mounted on top with all wiring hidden. Made an aluminum frame holding the mdf solid and in place out of 8020 bars. Maybe tomorrow I'll snap a few
