Default First attempt at tweeter pods

ok so this was my first attempt at custom tweeter pods and to be honest I am not that happy with them. I am looking for opinions and maybe some tips to make them better. Thank you.

I must ask, is that silly putty? Is it sandable? If so sand it down.

Those don't look very deep. Got enough room to just cut a hole in the pillar and surface mount them?

I tried the surface mount in the A pillars but the do not sit flush. And i am kind of stuck with them being in the pillars due to the hole I cut in them.
idk would it be better if it were more circular? or smaller? And I agree with having to sand them down, the wrinkles are killing it.

Ummm.

OK seriously, is that stuck to the pillar? Is that the mending putty or wonder putty "as seen on TV"?
What kind of prep was done to the pillars?
I can fix those with a 1 day turn around if you get to that point.
