This weekend Deon Bearden passed away at 43 years young.
Deon's name I'm sure means little to many of you SPL guys but he has really contributed to the audio community in ways most could only imagine. In the early '90s Deon was a DIYer, then was picked up by Klipsch where he became the head engineer developing and patenting many drivers and technologies, he then moved on to a company more of you are familiar with, TC sounds, where he was the head engineer for Thilo and played a huge roll in the TI basket and LMS coil, most recently Deon had been working at Kicker as the lead engineer where he recently withdrew from his position and was accepting a position as the head engineer at Alpine. Deon put into production over 30 subwoofer designs as well as helped with many other companies on designs and ideas.
I had talked with Deon just last month as he had been a huge help and inspiration to my former boss and helped his company grow. Deon had gone out of his way to talk with me a handful of times with my 8" Kickers, something most SPL guys would simply laugh at. He had always been an awesome guy that I had looked up to and I think anyone truly in this hobby with the passion to learn would have loved to talk with him.
With that said I just wanted to let everyone know that my prayers are with his family and I hope he is in a better place.
