Default Anyone have had a breathalizer machine installed in their vehicle?

So I have had a suspended license for the last 4ish years.. just got granted a restricted license thatll let me drive to and from work.. but I have to have a breathalizer machine installed into my vehicle.

This kind of irritates me tho because I can only drive to and from work... so my fiance has to blow in this thing mainly.. she is scared to death that she will accidently violate me by shutting the truck off before looking at the device to see if it is requesting her to blow..

And technically.. this is her vehicle since its in her name.. I dont think thats fair for SOS to require this machine to be installed in "her" vehicle.. and she has to blow in this machine all the time... its like she is the one in trouble.

Also.. does bass mess with these things? I have 2 X12's on a 2500bdcp.. its quite the nasty little setup..
And apparently if I disconnect my battery to work on my system it will mess with this device and its a instant violation.

I have to have this thing installed for a year before I'm eligable for a regular license.

Anyone have and experience with this? And can answer my questions?

#1 suck, don't blow. Clean air = pass every time.

#2 give it it's own battery to run off of for when you unhook your elec.

I'm not worried about failing due to alcohol on our breath.. more curious as to what others have experienced with this thing.. I have 2 batteries in my truck... I'm not sure if they connected it right to my battery or if they tied into my trucks electrical

It's tied into the electrical below the dash
Ground constant and acc.
Idk if a system would mess with it though

I have a friend who had one...Let's say he will never drink and drive again If he chewed mint gum it wouldn't start. Many moons ago I too got a DUI and they threw a drunk in the cell with me who ran a kid over that died. In the morning he couldn't remember crap about it. I made a pledge to never drink and drive again!

Sounds like you would be better off just buying a beater.

I contemplated it.. my truck was in the shop and my moms boyfriend let us borrow a BIG A$$ 1989 Ford Crown Vic LTD with a 5.0 in great shape.. he said I could have it for $500 BUT insurance and all that is gonna be expensive since I have 2 DUI's, wreck less driving, careless driving, ect ect.. not to mention the monthly cost of the smart start device its self.. I'm not trying to spend an extra $500+ a month

request the tether...

1. Its cheaper
2. Nothing to do with your car
3. If they do make you blow the box is at home
4. Saves you time, and headaches dealing with the smartstart
