Got an XT4000D used that was all scratched up, rusty, and just plain ugly. Tore it down, repainted the panels, and sanded down the aluminum heatsink/body for a neat effect.

it's easier to use Klean Strip QAR343 Aircraft Paint Remover.

then you don't need to sand. just polish.

{you might be able to find it in the automotive section at Walmart}

here's my stripped and polished Lanzar 500... 11 years of storage and moving LATER.
{it was beautiful when we first did it}

In hindsight I probably should have gone this route haha. But I wasn't looking to get it shiny, and also leave the original black within the heatsink fins at the time.

Chrome and polish just really isn't my thing

Looks like that amp has made many memories there though! Haha, but I do agree, it does look like it's seen better days.

But, Alas I always admire function over form though. For example, that xterminator has seen multiple owners, wet floors, rust, drops, and multiple trips to the amp repair shop(I peeled at least 10 service stickers off the back plate when I painted it) including one while I have bumped it. Still kicks the hell out of anything I hook up to it. I have to watch how hard I run it on my current setup, or it tries to burn the voice coils out of my drivers. Rated 450w RMS at 2 ohm my ass lol. If it was pushing that I should be well within the recommended power rating for two older Alpine Type S 10s.

Out of curiosity what's the barebone amp below it?

Edit: Looking at it again it looks like the guts to that shell, isn't it?
