Default Voice Coils/spiders comparison Guess which is....

I own both of these subs and paid full price for both. I'm unaffiliated with either company, and this is my unbiased opinion.
Both subs cost almost the exact same amount, however, imo one is terribly overrated. The other is the straight up TRUTH.
HINT: 1is made by Sundown Audio, the other is made by DC Audio.

[QUOTE=TheJesus;2162800]Left: Sundown
Right: DC

Guess I made it a little too easy, The Sundown coil/spider look and feel so much beefier and higher quality.

lol.

gotta love 8" spiders on expensive subs.

it's not 'overrated' if it 'handles' the power applied.

admittedly, it would be nice if it could do something more with the 2-3kw than a 600watt sub could do with 600 watts.

Oh it will handle the power it's rated for, and then some, I don't want anybody to think otherwise. Both subs will do that for sure.

"Overrated" as it is used in this thread is strictly referring to hype and value.
The Zv4 lives up to both, the DC Xl m2 not so much. I would, in fact, take it a step further. Before I upgraded to the zv4, I had a Sundown X12d4. I would definitely take that one over the XL as well. I listen to rap and decaf and the DC bottomed out much to early for that application imo.

I'm not out to hurt any fanboy feelings or whatever, because I owned the DC and was a fanboy until the X12 hurt my feelings. Unless you have heard both on proper power, in an enclosure built to spec, be open minded for sure.

I own both subs mentioned. I have reconed dc Xl's twice due to ripped leads and surround. I even opted for the upgraded cone and surround on the second set. After the 4th sub suffered the same failures as the previous I gave up. I'm never running dc soft parts again. I don't care if it hurts feelings or not, customers should be able to get honest feedback on poor products.

Yellow spiders and tall coil couldn't be DC, black spiders and short coil had to be.

PSI makes DC subs run perfectly, lol.
