Default USACi making some changes.

If you were at finals you know this, but for everyone not there, Usaci has made a change in leadership. And the new leadership is listening to the competitors.

In recent years, there's been some grumbling about 4 ohm ratings. And judging from all the feedback I personally get from others, people involved in other orgs don't like it either and make it damn near impossible to cross over.

"Cheater" amps are Usaci's roots. And they're still alive and kicking. But the rating system is flawed and much too restrictive. A TON of comparable amps just don't come in at < 500 or 600w at 4 ohm. So Usaci is looking to expand the rating to include more amps. The king dingaling for years has been the RD D5. The D5 is a special amp, IMO but its real significance is its [email protected] rating.

The class structures have been 0-600w, 601-1800 and 0-1,000, 1001-2k, etc. (all at 4 ohm). The proposed changes are to open this up to 0-1,500 and 1500+. This will INCLUDE probably 90% of 3-3.5k's but EXCLUDE severely underrated 5k's like the D9 and 40.1.

The other change will be the addition of clamped classes. The lowest class used to be Stock 0-600w (at 4 ohm). But now... That 0-600w will be clamped. That will be a very fun class. There will also be a stock 2,000w clamped class.

Pro stock or super stock will likely be 3,500 clamped and I believe the "Mod" class will be 5k clamped.

These are sorely needed and very welcome changes. And I hope it encourages some of you to either try Usaci out for the first time or to come back and try it again. And perhaps get some crossover from other orgs. Judging by the "the perfect SPL organization" poll, I think a lot of people are going to like the new Usaci.

Why do they not just clamp all of those classes and remove these silly ratings?

As I mentioned, 4 ohm is Usaci's roots. They're not going to completely abandon the class structure and revamp the entire org all at once. But its nice to see that they're trying to adapt.

Street? Do you mean Street Beat? If so, then no. No changes to the SB classes.

Well sounds like they are moving in the right direction. Those music classes need some work too. I didn't really like that trunk car with 2 15s was in the same class as Jeff Rowlands daily driver that was walled with 2/15s.

That's rhe nature of most music classes thoigh. They're all predicated upon cone area. I think Usaci's street beat needs a bit of a restructure too, but it won't be build or vehicle specific.

I always received requests to make USACI specific amps -- seemed a bit silly with our focus on retailers to make an amp rated so far from reality to fit the class structure. Sounds like a good set of changes.
