Default using 6.5" and 8" speakers in the same door ??

hi guy,
first post...

not sure what to do...

i have 2 - 6.5 speakers per door and im adding 2 8" woofers per door.

is there anything i need to do ?

im worried about the 8" woofers over powering the 6.5 as there in the same door .

o i have put sound deadener on inner panel and on the outer panel,, putting some fiberglass insulation in bags ( in the doors ) going to put some mlv on the doors also.

sealed up all holes and openings on the door.
they are very solid .

so is there anything else i should do ?

make a baffle on the back of the 6.5's so they do not get the pressure from the 8" drivers. they make foam baffles but they may not be sturdy enough if there higher powered 8's

A lot of people use multiple speakers in the same door. It could be an issue if they were perfectly air tight small chambers, but there's such high compliance in a door that you won't have to worry about pressure build-up behind the cone. If you're only using the 6.5"s well above (at least a couple octaves above) the resonant frequency of the speaker (fs), you could probably put them in small sealed enclosures without effecting the sound too much, but if you're playing them semi-full range you'll only create a huge resonance peak and kill any low-end on them.

Also consider that there's lots of people doing 150+dB with their substage. That should have a HUGE effect on cone pressure than anything else, but it's hardly ever an issue (although I must note that when I disconnected my 6.5"s in my doors and played tones through the subs I could get a good 1/2" of p-p excursion out of my mids, lol).

honestly, you won't have enough airspace anyway(if you do, you don't want the speakers), and the most efficient speaker will seam the loudest

there's absolutely no good or reasonable reason to use different sizes unless #1 the enclosures are perfect and #2 the different sizes are playing different frequencies

sonic is right as rain...you could do the eights in the doors and the six point fives in kicks if you have enough room for kicks

they will not be playing the same. im crossing them . i only want bass from the 8" and only want the 6.5 to play at and up from the 8" cutoff.

see the 6.5's do not have the bass im looking for, so i decided to get some 8" and only use them for say ( 60hz to 200hz ) and the 6.5's to play from ( 200hz to 3k ) and my tweeters are playing 3k up .

So you're running 3-way, shouldn't be an issue.

I run 6.5's and 15's in my doors 2.5-way active, works fine...
