Default Radial vs Neo Slugs

I've been looking around at different neo motors lately and was curious what the main difference a slug motor like a neo storm/axis and radial motors like tc sounds pro 5100? Also seems like a very little bit of neo for a decent sized magnet structure.

I guess other motors like wardens ddz and jeff's design would fall under radial as well.

something like the storm neo uses a smaller steel body to harness more of the neo power and cut back on weight and cost since the neo doesn't have to fulfill a full motor structure. the ring may look small, but theres a lot of power in that small slug and its all channeled to the gap. one big benefit is that the neo isn't directly subjected to heat off the voice coil. heat causes magnets to weaken as they increase temperature and eventually, if hot enough, they will hit there curie temp and loose 90% of the magnetic power

with radial, the neo is right in the gap and ready to make the magnetic exchange between N and S pole since one pole is already at the gap vs being extended via metal structure. it also means that the taller the piece in the gap, the thicker the top plate Is, and unlike most motors, there isn't a huge increase in weight by doing so. as mentioned above, the coil will radiate a lot of heat to the neo's, which is why most use H type or SH in some cases which is a high temperature neo slug with higher curie temp and a less effected magnetic strength as heat increases
