Default $39 Double Din from AliExpress

Ok so on the impalaforums a few guys are going ape shit over these but I am really iffy about these. I can't even find the preout voltage for the RCA's so that leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion. Also one guy got a refund from all express because something about his tracking number not working but on the other hand this other member has gotten a tracking number that works and also the seller contacted him assuring him hisnpackage was indeed on its way, when he opened a claim thinking the deal wasn't gonna go through. Here's a link Car DVD Player for Saturn Outlook / Vue 2008 2009 With DVD,GPS,Radio,BT P.book searching,USB,SD,IPOD,AUX,Multi language,3G,6CDC-in Car DVD from Automobiles & Motorcycles on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group what you guys think? Its only $40 bucks if it doesn't have at least 4v preouts. And even if it has like 2v preouts what can i can do to get better sound quality?

It doesn't have pre outs
It is meant to go into that specific car and nothing else
If you wanted an amp you would need a loc
And minimum order is 2 pieces so $80

Ok so no preouts. Maybe one of those fancy LOC (not an el cheapo one) would work and keep sound quality the same as my current deck? I'm just asking cause I'm really curious.

From my experience, the biggest problems with these inexpensive units are issues with quality (loose connections, buttons falling off, stuff like that) and terrible load times for external media. It's no fun waiting 90 seconds for a USB drive to load, or 10 seconds in between mp3s on a disk.

As for the SQ, your probably right that the preamp signal is at a fairly low voltage. That's not necessarily a big deal. Hopefully it doesn't run into clipping issues toward the end of it's volume range, but again not that big of a deal if you can adjust the gain structure of your amp(s) accordingly, or if you use an external 1/2 DIN EQ or something to control master volume.

I'm not saying this unit will necessarily have those problems, but it represents my experience with inexpensive units. For $40 it's probably worth at least trying out.

Edit: supposedly there's no preamp outputs so ignore the last part there if that's the case. There does appear to be a white a red RCA connector on the harness, which I assumed to be a preamp-level output.

You can get a decent used pioneer for $200 that will do all you want
Not $40 here and $100 on a nice loc and anything else you will need to get it working right

I'd agree with ty, it has quite a few rca cables, but those are prob the AV output for the 2nd zone. If it does have preouts they prob would not be any more than 2V.

Right, I saw that too and assumed they were the rca preouts, and man I know what you mean about the slowness of cheap headunits. I used to have a Jensen double din and that thing was painfully slow at times. Not to mention the audioquality sucked lol. Guy on the impala forums says that he could load another GPS app on it for better functionality though, that's what has me interested too; customizability.

The android based ones are prob what you should look at if you want to customize, there are vids on youtube of some of them.

You get what you pay for. For anybody with a cheap deck borrow a friends deck or run some long rcas to your amp from his car and listen to the difference. Stay away from Jensen, boss, power acoustic, lanzar sound stream, vibe, Pyle, and bottom of the line major name too.
