Default What happened to the big Crossovers?

Hey guys, first thread here.
I've been out of the game for a long time. I'm trying to put a SQ system together for my truck. Currently I have components front and back, kenwood DNX deck. JL 10's, older lower watt....
What I would like to do is put together an active front and back system. But all of the big crossovers seemed to have disappeared? Alpine 3672, 3656, Coustic xm-7, ppi frx-456, jvc ks-n60, jbl gtx47. I know everyone is selling dsp right now. But is anyone selling straight up big crossovers that can do the three way fronts without a computer?
I have an older set of 4-ohm seas 3-way drivers that I want to put in the front(2" dome midrange!).
Thanks again, Ed

You go the nostalgic route and hit up eBay to find that old school piece.

Or go with an old school company that's still doing their thing... AudioControl.

Car Audio Electronic Crossovers

A lot of new school amps have active crossovers on them already. And with the control a DSP offers, outboard active crossovers are a bit of a dinosaur. I wouldn't exclude them just on principle.

Also, another low cost and easy solution is FMod. Harrison Lab - In-Line Crossovers, Line-Level Attenuators, High Pass Crossovers, Low Pass Crossovers

Agreed with Taylor.

Those big x-over's are starting to be obsolete because they're on amps, HU's, etc (Change in technology). So people don't need them as a separate unit anymore, like we did back in the day. I had a Audiocontrol myself, and it was the Matrix 3 ch I think.

Just to further the point... the AudioControl is a great piece, but the crossover points are controlled by modules that you have to purchase separately.

I know *I* could never lock in my crossover points in the planning stages. So I'd have to buy (50) different modules and keep swapping them in and out to find the sweet spot.

Enter the DSP that has about 50 billion different points of control from the driver's seat. Ok... maybe not 50 billion. But it's a lot.

Plus the time alignment a DSP offers could be quite valuable, depending on your goals, big old school X-over would have fainted just thinking about it...lol

Thanks for the replies, I see your point about the audio control modules, I looked at those and didn't really like that idea. I also looked at the dsp offerings. And I didn't see anything but the older big crossovers that did exactly what I wanted. And with easy setup. I'll keep looking, probably the old school listings on ebay is where I'm headed.... Thanks again, I appreciate the help.

I didn't come in here for this, but if you're set on an old school piece, I have a matching set of trunk mount 4-way crossover and EQ.

Just throwing that out there. They're LA Sound. Do you remember those? Made in teh good ol' USA

It's hard to compete with modern DSP's. You can go get a turnkey minidsp setup for under 200 bucks that will do almost anything you can imagine.

I have a NIB GTx47 crossover that I've tried selling a few times over the years, and it's impossible to find someone interested enough to offer more than 50 bucks for it.
