Default Tantric HDD vs Soundqubed HDC4

Tantric vs Soundqubed

Wondering what people think of these. Personal opinions welcome, but technical is what I'm looking for (although I need layman's terms)

HDC4 has 4 inch coil, vs 3 inch in HDD. What difference does it make?

8 layer vs 4 layer coils?

Xmax is 94mm on HDD and 80 on HDC4. HDD does better on lower notes?

I will say one thing, customer service with Tantric has been much better and efficient than with Soundqubed (if your reading this, thanks Murphy).

Looking forward to the reading as I'm still trying to learn as I go

Thanks

Haven't really decided if I'm going 2 10's, 1 12, or 1 15 yet. I have limited space now, so cant go too big. If I go 10's I will be using the HD or HDC3.

never experienced an HDC4, but with the HDD, you're getting a hell of a sub for the price.

As far as power handling, they should take about the same amount of power. Just by looking at the specs, in optimal boxes, I'd say the HDD would get a lot lower than the HDC4

Musically, I'd say the HDD but again, take that with a grain of salt as I've never experienced a HDC4 first hand.

Pricing seems to be on par with each other. If I had to run anything Soundqubed, it'd probably be the HDC4

HD 10's I'd put in the same sized enclosure as a single HDD 15 with similar tuning and then you really aren't saving money or space. If you can go 15, go HDD 15 and call it a day. Sound quality is amazing and top notch customer service. Nothing like the confidence of knowing that big weirdo is down in the swamps making woofers and humping couches all day erry day and backs his products more than he does his couches...

Skip01, very knowledgeable dude who has experience with both, says that they sound similar but the hdc4 takes power much better.

25hz and LOT of Power....Soundqubed HDC4 12"

Since soundquebed is not involved on the forums, I don't think they'll get the credit they deserve.

Don't know but I know that HDC4.0 would handle the power better at least a bit better,

Kindest Regards.

i had a hdc4 18 in a 6.2 cube box with about 17 inches of port per cube tuned to like 38
on a ab 150.1 @ .5

i hated it ive had walls/boxes tuned to mid 30s but the hdc4 just sounded really really sloppy ( i did lower the tuning and port area. really didnt help)

i also ran DLP MLD 18s while their NOT tantric HDDs murphy built em ( or who ever was working for him at the time) and designed em i think

only complaint was one coil was positioned a bit higher in the gap
one had TONS of glue on the triple joint (not a problem)
one had NO visible glue lol

friend bought one and had shims left in...................

i dunno ill never touch tantric again after that just my opinion tho
Thanks, I want all the opinions. Judging from the subs I have chosen, what is a good alternative? What or who do you recommend then?

I am in Pensacola and run two hdc4 18's currently. I have them on a Cactus Sounds K9 and love with with the exception of the surrounds splitting from over-excursion. I have two Tantric recones coming with the rubber surround so no more of those issues. I would have to say Hdc4 for the simple fact its a badass sub for a good price. Sure there is much better but for the price they are hard to beat. If you ever want a demo just hit me at bayfront every other Saturday night. Oh and the surround issue is from 8k clamped with no subsonic filter so user abuse lmao
