Default Using my XXX for a home Theather sub? How would I go about this? lol

I mean... since no one wants to buy it for a price that isn't rape to me considering I paid so much more 4 years ago(been offered prices like $200 WITH shipping on fb lol) and I have a new sub on the way. I guess I could use it for a home theater sub for now. I just have no clue what is needed to run this powerful of a sub in-doors lol.

Now since it is kind of a SQ sub with the ability to really go hard I don't plan on shaking the whole house and giving it like 2k watts. Just something nice for movies.

Is there any external amps I could hook up to my AVR that will power it or do I have to replace the whole AVR? I assume since our houses have [email protected], home theater amps can't be that expensive are they? I mean the amps don't have to be nearly as efficient as they would be in car audio as the power hardly changes only issue is. I would need an amp that could do 1ohm or 4ohm and I know most home theater is up to 6, 8 and 12 ohm.

I would be pairing it with some Definitive Audio 600s, a very nice surround for under a grand. So until someone buys my sub instead of this thing sitting and collecting dust in my living room. I can enjoy it.

The iNukes are great budget amps. There's plenty of reviews and info on them if you go to any home audio forum.

As for the sub - for movie duty the goal is usually extension down to and below 20hz. A large (seriously...as large as you can build it) box tuned somewhere around, or even below, 20hz should work well. Check out this enclosure for a 15" XXX, which is 34.5 ft^3 tuned to 12hz. Data-Bass

Keep in mind as well that just like in a car, subs will sound different when placed at various locations in the room due to modal differences. If you have trouble getting it to blend with the mains try moving the enclosure around or facing it a different direction if you can.

Is this the older or new XXX? If you can give me the maximum dimensions the box can be (space it will fit in) I will model it and see what works for you.

I second the iNukes, great amps. Also look into a second hand EP2500 or EP4000 (same thing, except the latter is just named according to it's peak power). They are seriously good value for money. Note that they have noisy fans though, easy enough to mod and replace with quieter ones though.

Anything behringer really. Even the older stuff. It's a great "middle shelf" company. Quality and budget friendly. There are companies like crown that offer superb of everything if you can fit it in your budget.

lol not sure if he wants a refrigerator sized enclosure or bigger. Unless this thing is going in a huge room and he is major ht buff, it has enough xmax to work well in a moderately sized sealed box and you can play with placement that way to combat room modes.. Not so much on a 1000+lber 35 cubic foot box, for a single 15.
