Default How far below tuning do you play?

How far below tuning are you willing to play full tilt without worrying about anything? How high? What is your actual tuning and how much port area?

Tuned to 36hz with 9.81" per cube. 25-50hz full tilt before things sound sketchy

2.5 cubes for 1 12 tuned to 30hz, I played down to 23hz full tilt (Sl Jones - Takin Chances) and it did fine. Any lower and it would sound like the sub was bottoming out. Then again, I could've had my SSF set too high aswell.

Not too sure on port area but a 5.5" octoport was used

Depends on the sub really, Zv.4 for instance wouldn't be stressed playing below tuning since it has a lot of Xmech, it has 30mm top plate , 65mm coil and a huge tall motor (62.5mm mech clearance)!!!
If you use NSv.2 coil (72mm) in there it would be even beastlier!

You'd reach the mechanical limits at lot higher frequency with the Zv.3 (below tuning) then the Zv.4,

Kindest Regards.

I don't remember off hand how much port area I have, but my 2 x18s on a saz3500, I play that version of sail that hits 10, 11, and 19 something like that. Tuned at 29hz, 14 ish cubes net. Once with one x18 listening to "bass I love you" I think I heard it bottom, but not sure, only heard it sound like it smacked once. Might have been something in the burban breaking, I dunno.

I love me them lows, tho.

2.85cu/ft after sub/port displacement using 2-4" aeros tuned to 30hz and can play down into the 15hz area without worries with the sub i have now going full tilt. If i was still running my DC m2 xl15 then no way lol.
