Default Stock Subaru Aux

Anyone figure out a way to utilize the Aux in the center console when installing an aftermarket HU?

I have a 2012 Subaru Legacy

Like this... USB is charging only, may try to put my actual usb connection there...

What does it look like behind the panel and the headunit? I've seen some cars with AUX ports that use a simple 3.5mm connector between the two, meaning you could just use the male end on the other end of the cable to tie into the aftermarket HU AUX port. If it's hardwired, you'll need to trace those wires and determine what is what. There should be three wires for a stereo connection: right audio, left audio, and ground. For a 3.5mm connector those are in a TRS (tip, ring, sleeve) configuration. The tip of the connector is for left, the ring is for right, and the sleeve is ground.

If you remove that panel and can't figure out what wires are for right/left/ground you can build a test rig from a male TRS connector and some wires to check continuity on each wire and match it to either the T, R, or S.

a 24 pin connector and a 20 pin connector... that is all... having a hard time with steering wheel controls too as the wiring diagrams for my car don't seem to match what is there...

If it uses a proprietary connector on the back you'll need the pin-outs. Perhaps this will help?

Stock head unit information -- pin-outs, aux inputs, and more - NASIOC

You can use a male 3.5mm cable with the wires cut off and stripped to insert that into the stock female jack. Then with the stock (or preferably an aftermarket) harness connected to the back with those wires cut and stripped probe each wire on the male 3.5mm jack plugged into the front, then check each wire on the cur harness on the back for continuity. That will be a bit labor and time intensive though.
