Question Is this a 4-ply birch???

Hi Gents,

Hope y'all are fine and everything is going great and STRONG for y'all,

Went to wood stores in here, find this wood and I want to know what type is it, funny that even the manager call it Indonesian wood? It's .75" thick!

Thank you, any reply would be greatly appreciated,

Have a great day,

Kindest Regards.

Sorry I mean is it a birch? It's 4-ply wood but don't know if it's birch or not? How to tell if it's birch or baltic birch?

Thank you I appreciate it,

Kindest Regards.

The birch is just the very thin beauty layer on top. Most likely it is pine or poplar wood. So long as it is void free it should be ok. What is the weight of a sheet? Sometimes that 5 ply wood is soft.

I've used the 5 ply before and it turned out terrible. Lots of tear out and it flexed bad. I'll spend the extra $20 a sheet to get the good stuff now. 11-13 ply baltic is $55 for a 5x5 sheet. The a-1 China stuff is $80-90 for a 4x8.

Hmmm, it's not soft at all but I couldn't tell if it's really void free? How can I test it? Lol,

Thank you very much Dad, I greatly appreciate it,

Kindest Regards.

Money isn't an issue but the problem is that I couldn't find anything other than that or MDF!

Thank you very much, I greatly appreciate it,

Kindest Regards.
