Default 6 layer coil questions

Ok need some people with lots of knowledge or experience on this. Found some nice 6 layer coils that will fit with my MTX9500 motors well. Only thing is, each coil has 2 different impedances, 2 ohm one side, 1 ohm the other. So who in here knows if I can wire these parallel or what weird stuff has to go on with coils like this?

Thanks

As long as they are designed properly so that the individual coils wouldn't fight each other when wired in series or parallel then there shouldn't be any ill effects.

Test each coil with a 12v dc signal and see if the cone moves the same direction both times. If so I'd say you are good to wire them together.

you wouldn't need to wire both as parallel or both in series. if ran individual to two different sources, they wouldn't be equal due to the impedance difference. the 6 layer is often done to gain a specific OD on the coil

Why would I have the same coil with 2 different sources? I basically want to wire the pair of speakers down to .75, wondering if it's possible

So I cannot wire each to 1.5 and parallel them together for .75? This 6 layer thing is confusing me

2 ohm in parallel with 1 ohm is .6667.

the 6 layer thing is simple. its just one winding 2 layers longer then the other thus they have different resistance

My only concern is you will have more current going through the lower impedance coil if you run each driver in parallel. I personally would be leery of sending additional heat into the what I'm going to assume is the 2 layer coil. maybe there will be no issues with heat dissipation...Ideally you would run an individual driver's coils in series and then run both drivers in parallel to one another, but that only gets you a final ohm load of 1.5.
