Default Alternator does not fit

This summer (May 2015) I ordered a DC Power HOA for my 2013 Nissan Altima. They said it was a direct OEM fit with no modifications necessary. I took my car to a local mechanic shop this morning and the DC Power HOA does not fit on the alternator brackets. The mounting holes are way off compared to my OEM alternator.

Should I take the DC Power HOA to the Nissan dealership and see if they can custom mount the alternator. Or should I contact DC Power and request a return. Any advice is appreciated.

Nissan will not install it for it the only install OEM parts they provide. Best thing is to contact them. Its just a bad situation. Best of luck.

Have you frequented the shop often? Reason why I ask is because some shop don't want to under take a job that my be liable for them in a couple months... time is money for them.

I put a DC unit in my buddy's Land Rover and had to get a different radiator hose so that it wouldn't/couldn't ever rub on the pully.

If the shop knows you and honestly know the mounts are off and won't fit without modifications, the dealer won't touch it either. I'd contact DC and see what they can do for you.

The mechanic is my good friend and I was next to my car the entire time he was doing the install. We were watching NFL games together. He took my OEM alternator out and we compared it to the DC Power HOA and the mounting holes were way off. There was physically no way to line up the mounting holes to the engine block.

Building on sonic, doesn't DC do case swaps for different mounts or am I thinking of someone else?
I was going to say he made a valid point and maybe you could get a quick fix

DC mills their own cases for larger alts..
but I'm guessing they simply sent the alt for a different engine.

note: being as it is almost 4 months later, if DC does anything for you, you're seriously lucky.

also, if you didn't buy it from DC, in my opinion, you've got no case.

but Paypal now fncks sellers up to 6 months after the purchase.

so, as long as you paid with paypal, you might be covered.
