Default Having resistance issue's

ok so ive got a buddy just gettin into audio.. he went and bought 2 quantum audio d4 subs. they wire down to 1 ohm just fine but when we hook them up to his kicker dxa250.1 amp they instantly jump to 2 ohms instead of being at one... has anyone ever heard of an amp "raising resistance"? any other info just ask... im no noob when it comes to wiring systems but im SUPER confused

what process did you/he use to get the difference in load resistance?,... what are the specifics?

didnt do anything... i wired the subs all parallel checked the resistance at the leads and its 1.4 on his meter which has .4 resistance between it.. now being the amp is a kicker its a 2 ohm load amp... anything ive ever checked loads on while plugged into the amp has always ohmed out fine (with amp off) but once i put the leads in the amp and check again its coming to 2.5 (.4 resistance in meter remember). i know your not supposed to exactly check ohms that way but i always do and never an issue

where are you measuring the 2ohms vs the 1ohm?
any chance one sub is loosing connection from a loose or fallen off connection?

the 2 ohm is hooked into the speaker terms and 1 ohm is leads all together outside of box since its being weird...

so if you take it off the amp again will it read 1ohm?
and the second you touch it to the amp it reads 2ohm?

You can't measure resistance (or impedance) with the speakers connected to the amp like that, as you'll be measuring the speaker's DCR along with any components connected in parallel with the speaker terminals inside of the amp.

If Anything was in parallel it would divide the resistance more not less

Are you sure the amps outputs are in parallel and you are not just measuring one sub on each set of outputs?
