I have a Z919, which is the US version of the one on the top. It was one of the first units on the market to play mp3's. I remember drooling over it in all the stereo shop displays, and there was all sorts of hype around them. I think it was around 2000 or 2001 if I remember right. I don't know why, but they never sold well and were soon forgotten after the Z828 came out.
I've never seen the matching spectrum analyzer, though!! That's mega pimp!! I have a soft spot too for the old school matching single din units. Kenwood had a few different models of matching units like yours only older, Pioneer had them with the DEQ-7600 and 9200, Sony had some, and I think Alpine even had a set too.
