Default Going rate for boxes & walls?

What are people willing to pay for a box from a successful shop? I'm thinking about having my new box built by a reputable shop but the 2 shops prices vary by a huge margin. One shop has the most musical build I've ever heard from a trunk car, plays 150+ from 25-45hz. They sold me ~$450-500. Another shop has a build that does a 155 but I'm not sure how flat it plays and they want ~$1200. Both builds are in the exact same vehicle, which is the same as mine

I just can't figure out is $450 is insanely cheap or $1200 is high? This is for a 4th order built into the trunk of a car

Imo 450 is cheap for an in trunk bp build from a reputable shop.

1200 seems high, but we dont know how much prep and or other fabrication your trunk will require. Could be fair if its going to require quite a few additional hours of labor or material outside of the box itself

$450 is what shops charge for a simple ported box
$1500 would be a full trunk Wall built inside the trunk and show quality

Wow! I had no idea having a box built was so expensive since it costs me $50 roughly for a slot port box that's to the sub specs.

i'd trade a few DBs for flat and musical anyday. OR even better, just ask them to do adjustable tuning.

I'm thinking it's both, $450 is cheap and $1200 is on the high end. Cosmetically, they would look identical. Only reason I'm not immediately going with the cheaper shop is because I've heard that they have torn up a few subs in the past before getting the box right and they've never built a BP with sundown subs. The more expensive place knows sundown better than any other brand, and that's what I'm using

If they can promise you 155db trunk car on music id pay $3000 for that install. That's nuts. My buddy has two zv4s 12s just a plain ported trunk wall built inside the car and sealed off proper and does 150db+ from like 24hz-38hz and he paid about $1000-1500.... But prices will very from where you live.
