Default Alternator Regulation

Sup guys, a couple months ago I installed a DC Power 250 Amp alt, replacing my stock GM 105 Amp alt. I have a 1997 Chevy 1500 Cheyenne. The plug that goes into the alt is only one pin, not 4 like I usually see for the 1500. My question is, the voltage is only above 14.1-14.3 when its cold, and obviously id like to run a little higher and I don't know how my alt is regulated, and if its internally, is there a way to regulate it externally. Other info is I have 1/0 OFC big three and power wire, a 1/0 CCA negative run back to the front batt and 1/0 OFC grounded in the rear, a 50ah Juicebox in the rear and a stock napa up front. I'm running a MB quart 4.60 and a custom American bass similar to a 175.1 which is about 2-3k if I remember. I'm currently running my amp at .5ohm and drop to easily 11.5 but I try to keep it above 12.8. Any help is appreciated !

How often do you charge your batts? Surprised your voltage goes that low with what you have on a 250 amp.

How many pins does the alternator have? Not the stock plug

If it's a 4 pin oval alt, you can hook it up with an external relay and adjust the voltage up with diodes/resistors

I probably should get my batts fully charged up again, is it possible the old napa up front is causing more issues than helping?

I do believe its a 4 pin, TheCamBeck owned it before me and I think he had it externally regulated.

Then bltches be dead. Charge them to full and let them sit 24-48hour... If they drop below 12.6 after 24hr I wouldn't use them.

Gm 4 pin regulator can be messed with quite easily.
PLFS are the 4 pins on the regulator. If you but a potentiometer between the s and (+) you can lower the voltage the s wire sees and thus will increase the voltage the alt will put out.

Hooking up an external regulator to your alt is pretty easy just gotta hook a wire up to the (+) side of the brush that is behind the regulator

I have zero problems with people having a shop or other enthusiast do their build. But it's a little disrespectful they take credit for it and/or don't correct people when they assume the owner did the work. Happens all the time.
