Default 04/05 xxx Vs. Zv4/x-series

Looking for more output, would you consider the Re xxx to be a smaller bro to the X/zv4?

No, they are completely different design approaches. That RE XXX is garbage. You should give it to me. I'll even cover shipping charges.

What type of box are you currently using? The XBL^2 RE XXX should be pretty beastly. Would you be upping cone area if you switch from the RE XXX?

Two different approaches. I havent seen the bl curve for the ZV.4... but the XXX with XBL^2 is VERY linear throughout the stroke. Anything above 2500 rms I would take the ZV.4.. and under 2500 I would take the XXX. The XXX also falls off fairly sharply around the 60hz mark.

It's a single 12 in a ported , was thinking of doin a 4th order since the rear seats don't fold. If I do a 4th order will I lose the characteristics of the xbl?

Nope. Actually any kind of sealed alignment where your more likely to use most of the drivers stroke is going to be best for an XBL^2 driver in terms of taking advantage of it. These are also pretty hard to bottom since the motor force drops off hard after xmax, but before xmech. So you'll likely thermal it before you rip stuff, which is good for a 4th since you tend to smell more than you hear in a 4th.

Anyways they are different drivers, but if "little brother" your talking in regards to highly accurate low frequency reproduction, yes. The sundown uses a linear suspension and the XXX uses linear motor force. Both have their own characteristic sound and neither are known for playing above 60hz very well.

Give it a shot, I think everyone should hear a linear BL sub at least once.
