Default dual vs single port on dual sub box

Why do prefab boxes for dual 12's usually have a port and a chamber for each sub? The dual 12" sub box I just made is my first dual sub set up and I have a single 6" aeroport with the subs sharing the same chamber.
It sounds cool but I'm wondering if it would sound better with each sub with its own chamber and aeroport....
What do you guys think?
Current box, 3.2 net with two sa-12 v3 subs wired at 2 ohms on my taramps dsp3k
I'm happy with the output but I always want MORE!

Assuming equivalent port area, a single port will almost always be more efficient and louder. If the prefab uses round/aero ports, multiples are probably less expensive to manufacture because smaller diameter pipe is cheaper.

The other reason you will see this is preferred tuning. At times a single 12" aero is unfeasible due to the length needed to achieve desired tuning so guys will opt for multiple smaller diameter ports that will be easier to find room for the required length to achieve tuning. Also some guys are super anal and will do it to have symmetry. Why would someone compromise performance for looks you might ask.... because OCD....

I've only ever had a single port on all my dual sub boxes. If I want more output I'd need more cone area . My current setup is surprisingly loud for 2 little 8"s.

But what about each sub having its own chamber guys?
I would think that costs more $$$ to make. Also using slot ports takes up more internal space and raises the tuning.

Each woofer in its own chamber is a loss on meter in every situation I can think of. The only time it is a good idea in my opinion is when it is for the sealed side of a 4th so that if you blow softies out on one woofer the others don't unload through the now non sealed enclosure and eat themselves as well. Still a loss on meter in that circumstance as well though but the precaution is worth the loss to about half of the guys out there

Tuning can be adjusted.

Thanks guys. Like I said, I'm happy with my setup but I have a few friends that like the many boxes I've built (single sub and this 1st dual) and they want me to build them boxes now for dual subs with a single 6" aeroport
I don't want to make a crap box for them
