Default modding a rf t2 motor to fit 3" coil

so i have a pair of rf t2 motors as well as a pair of 3" coils and access to a machine shop. ive been contemplating milling a section out of the existing 4" pole to then allow a 3" coil so essentially the pole would be able to accept either or but my concern is that by having the 3" coil be more centered on the pole and further from the magnets would i then have less motor force usable for a 3" coil platform.

i could always go neo as well being ill be potentially removing the t-yoke assemblies anyway.

I would check the wall thickness of the pole to the pole vent. The last t2 motor I had, I remember the pole vent being quite large and I'm not sure you would have much metal left on the pole if you took it down to 3". The amount of metal in the pole has a significant effect on BL, so IMO I wouldn't do it if it would result in any less than .5"+ wall thickness.

To do this, you would also need to make a new top plate as the 4" one would not work.

Honestly, it would be a lot easier to machine your own steel set out of new stock rather than try and modify the T2 stuff.

I don't think this is a good Idea at all. The motor was designed to focus flux into a specific gap. It's going to be weaker further in. Plus it would be a lot of work.

Just by 4" coils and forget about the 3" coils!!! Why are you even thinking about this? Lol
