Default Good deal on aluminum?

Would this be a good deal on aluminum?

Link: https://www.zoro.com/value-brand-fla...a9/i/G0628993/

I don't really have any knowledge on it.

Figure just cut it in half so it's only 1 inch wide

with 45k tensile its t-6 6061. good strength and also flows electricity pretty good to. roughly 70% of what pure copper would flow. this type is structural aluminum. what ever your purpose is just work it slow and keep the heat low while working it and this stuff can do wanders. it also polishes up real nice.

Not if you need 1"

It will take time and not turn out how you want it if you are cutting it

Buy 1"

They have all different sizes on their site. Main purpose would be for small buss bars, no bigger than 4/6 inches long.

How about the thinkness? 1/4 sounds about right

Personally I would get 1x1 and put set screws in for your wire
Looks 10000000x better imo

I feel like I wouldn't be able to do that lol

Feel safer just making a single hole so I can't mess it up too bad

If you have access to a drill press that's a very good start
I made my first set on a drill press with a ruler and some bits

My second set was with a mill with a digital readout so it was easier.

But you could do it all by hand with a drill, just would take some patience and steady hands

If you are just doing bar with ring terminals I would do 3/8" minimum
It's not a lot of material to grab on, not that it should be able to hold hundreds of pounds but it should be a solid connection

for buss bars i usually use 1x2 stock. average drill size .46 for 1/0 and 2/0. just remember low speed cutting/drilling and use a cheap lube to keep it cool.
