Default Help choosing subwoofers

I have a rockford fosgate 500.1 amp that rms is on paper 630. I have a kicker compvr 12" and looking into something better than a beginner sub but same amps for now. I am wondering if sundown audio ev3 12" v.3 is good inbetween sub? Or the sundown audio SA 12" sub but it is rated for 750 watts, would 630 rms be bad to underload it? And does anyone know of DAD KMH 12" subwoofer by JMHAudioConcepts? I know the BDs are competition subs, they say the kmh is in between version and that it provides competition like sound. Any help be great!! Thanks.

Out of the 3 listed I would go with the sundown sa 12. Also BTW you can't underload a subwoofer. I actually supply 2000w rms more to each of my subs. It mainly depend if your properly set the gain with an O-scope and not just turn the gain knob.

Also essentially your amps isnt making 630w until you actually have it at full volume and liked stated above (properly) set.

I read that supplying a 750 watt subwoofer with a 620 watt amp could lead to blowing voice coil or blowing the amp as at almost to full volume the amp can't provide the amps the subwoofer is requiring from amp. Anyone else help chime in on this?

I believe what you are referring to is people who put smaller power to woofers with higher handling and run the bjesus out of the amp trying to get more, but end up running a clipped/distorted signal to the sum cooking it with distortion.

I have never in 30+ years heard of or seen a sub burn or an amp fry because the amp was lower power than the sub, if the signal was clean.

That is what I meant. I dont wanna damage the sub from clipping and distortion. I just want to have a clean signal and a sub that bangs better than a entry level sub.

Don't you understand that you can clip/distort the output of any amp? It depends if you set the gain properly. Idk what the other guy was talking about but for being in audio for 30yrs he does offer lack of info to address your concern

Also you won't notice the difference from 630w to 1000w rms. As power double there a 3db gain and increments of 3dB is what the human can notice when it comes to output.

And yo further more to reassure you. I was running 2 12 mojo with a 3kw rms amp at .5 ohm and it sounded nice and loud. I sold the sub and box to my cousin and he a cheap flea market 100w amp on it and it was just a loud, we'll maybe with 500w it would be a little more comparable.

If you care to learn please take everything with a grain of salt even vets here offer shifty info. I design, build and install and test my equipment in different orientation to actually learn.
