Default I'll gift you $10

If you can find me a circuit board schematic of a Phoenix Gold Tantrum 500.2 amp.

Have already called PG and they do not have any schematics for this amp as they have been bought several times since the creation of this amp.

I am doing this for a friend who is trying to diagnosis and repair this amp. I do not have the amp in my possession.

Let me know if any of you guys have one or can find one.

Will be gifted via paypal after i receive the schematic. First one with it gets the $10.

You have a better chance of meeting the real Santa Claus and his reindeer on your roof, than getting a hold of a PG schematic. That was kind of a serious joke.

Unless someone hand drew it themselves that is. PG is a company that wouldn't release schematics for their car amplifiers, mainly the high end ones, even old amps they no loner produced they wouldn't give out schematics.

My suggestion, ask repair questions / tips at the best forum for car amplifier repair "help".

Car Audio - diyAudio

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Best forum for Car amplifier repair !!!!
Make sure to post in the car audio section, as it isn't actually a car audio forum, just one of their sub forums.

That amp looks like a pretty basic class AB topology, shouldn't be too difficult to troubleshoot. Again, ask detailed repair questions on that forum, some very knowledgeable members willing to offer help. Hopefully your friend knows what he is doing, but again, shouldn't be too difficult to troubleshoot.

I seen one hand drawn schematic for a different PG amp, and one real PG schematic for the cheap International R15.0:1 amplifier (this was an overseas unit using a generic main board, so they didn't mind releasing this one). Other than that, I was told they never gave out schematics, and research online shows that to be the case. Is unfortunate, but some companies are like this.

Thanks for the post pioneer. I figured it was beyond a long shot... and unfortunately, you're response echoes the same as everyone else's.

I made a post on Diy the same day as I did here. If nothing comes from it, it is what it is.

Ok just found your thread there:
No one probably responded because
1. schematics just aren't out there for these amps
2. you said you didn't have the amp in your possession, so not much help can be offered without very specific problem symptoms.

3. You also posted in the "Class D" section, so non of the car audio experts seen your thread! They primarily hang out in the Car Audio sub forum. You want to navigate to the "car audio" section I linked to. Car Audio - diyAudio < Car Audio section

Might I suggest a new thread over there, with the amp brand / model in the title, and a clear description of the problems and perhaps an inside photo of the amp, this way others know precisely which model / board it uses.

Since your friend will be repairing it (I presume), might be good for him to ask all the questions since he has the amp in his possession this way he can follow along with the help.
That Tantrum 500.2 is also a class AB amp as far as I recall, not class D.

Perry Babin is one of the most knowledgeable repair techs around, if he can't walk you through a repair on diyaudio, nobody can anywhere. The user 1moreamp over there was the resident PG nut and a good amp tech, but I think he had some health problem, not sure if he's still around.

That said if you can't find the schematics (going to be next to impossible), and your friend needs help with a specific "problem" / "symptom" the amp has, try again over at diyaudio.

Hopefully it isn't one of those amps that had to be seen in person to be repair.

Pioneer621,

Thank you again for you're input.

I'm going to print out this thread to my friend Tom. I'm going to let him do the rest of the leg work because you and him definitely know more about amps than I do.

Thanks again.

No problem.

Yeah, probably good for him to sign up / post there, that way he can ask very specific questions on problems he is facing, or can try to test things when asked to do so. Hopefully someone there can offer help to problems; it really is the best forum for getting help on repairing car amps if you can be clear with questions and test things when asked to do so.
