Exclamation Crescendo pwx6s and FT1s on a Symphony 800.4?

I would like to know at what frequency should I cross the mids(pwx6) and the tweeters(ft1s) at?

Thanks in Advance.

Your symphony amp's high pass crossover doesnt go anywhere near high enough to tame the FT-1s. You'll want to use an active head unit and cross much higher, you need a gap between the mid and super tweeter crossovers due to how peaky the FT-1s are.

I've tuned FT-1s in 4 different setups already. 5khz is garbage for any kind of SQ. You have a massive peak at 5khz to 8khz that EQ can never hope to make a dent in. In all 4 of the setups i had to high pass around 8khz to 10khz at -12 to -18 db slopes. The tweet still plays down to 4khz very loud and it naturally fixes the heavy nasty sibilant peak thats inherent in the FT-1s. I mean if you just want ear bleeding garbage sound thats loud and blaring, by all means go with the 5khz, just letting you know the inline crossover they include is already a 5khz low pass.

Assuming you have normal ears and enjoy quality, clean high output sound, you try to can lower the gain and cut the eq to hell to sound a bit more bearable but the inherent issue is still there and you cant really play that loud without the harshness coming back.

However with a proper crossover to tame it, the sound will not be harsh no matter how much power you try to put on it, your total overall clean output is much louder without sounding like sh*t at highest volumes. Overall sound is much more natural and detailed. Literally making them sound almost like silk domes while keeping the output.

Crossover points will be different in every car thats why i gave you that range because some vehicles have different reflections and phase issues due to the shape of the dash along with how the person mounted the tweeters. But in general for super tweeters, you need to cross very high. Note a crossover isn't going to cut out the signal completely, its just a roll off point. Even crossing at 10khz at -18db slope the FT-1 in that particular setup still played from 3khz to 20khz loud, flat and clear.

Note the tweeter can handle much more power and as a result your 12khz and above range will gain some nice output giving you that airyness in the vocals that make things sound very crisp and clean. Vs improper crossovers and you are stuck with only putting 20-40 actual watts to the super tweeter before it starts sounding like junk.
