Default $4000-$5000 Budget

I recently bought a 2015 Ford Explorer and I wanted to upgrade my system from my early 90's system that I keep switching from vehicle to vehicle. My budget is $4k-$5k. When I bought my 90's system I went to audio shop and asked to install a decent system. Well technology stepped up since then and now with the internet my head is about to explode after weeks of searching and reading all the reviews on car audio forums. I need some help on building my system for sound quality with slamming bass. I listen to rap and rock. I would like to keep the factory head unit. Thanks in advance.

I'd do a 3 way active setup in stereo. Leave the stock head unit alone, stock speakers etc.. all alone. Make door pods for the new speakers. You will buy a DSP and a bluetooth dongle and play music all through there and bypass the sh*tty stock head unit completely. Get a nice 6 channel amp and sub amp. High output alternator along with some battery reserves and some EB flex 2/0 welding cable.

sounds like you should just go to a local shop and pay them for whatever they have and think is best. best buy has a nice selection.

I wanted to buy the amps, speakers, subs, etc. and have them install. I think that most shops in my area will sell me the product lines they carry. I wanted to be able to buy the best that I can afford. The internet has alot of choices....hence my predicament with which to chose. I like the idea of the DSP and Bluetooth dongle. But I'm not sure about the door pods.

where are you located? and is the installation cost factored into the $-5k or is that just on product?
