more power?

ok here is my question

I have 2 4 ohm dvc 10s rated at 500 rms each skar audio vd-10

I wired em to 2 ohms each box and am currently running a jbl gtx 500 series at 4ohm I figure 350 rms and its pretty good.
I had to improvise and I stuffed the shallow 10's in old kicker boxes.
I have a 1 ohm stable amp at 1000 w rms with low pass and bass boost if needed and this one has an actual bass knob I have an inline gain control add on

is it worth it to go 1ohm and 1k?



its pretty loud at 350 w at 4 ohm and shakes like crazy on the low stuff.



Pioneer avic 5000nex head unit using 63hz crossover on the unit. jbl gtx 500 amp separate amp 70w rms x2 and skar audio 6x8 in the doors at 63 hz as well

Toyota Tacoma 2003 single cab pre-runner.

4 gauge welding wire for power and ground circuit breakers for protection.




I know that was a bit of a question but I wanted to get all the details needed

and I finally answered a question I had for those who are interested

one 10 inch 500w sub @ 500w rms 2 ohm or
2 10 inch at a higher ohm so 350w rms the winner is 2 at 350 rms

You'll notice a night/day difference going from 4ohm to 1ohm..

its not like I crank it as much as I used to still ....

well the amp I bought was a disappointment I am on a bit of a budget so I am going to return it and I thinking another route

I have i jbl gtx500 and on one of the woofer because its 2 ohm is really nice

the 2nd woofer even at 4 ohms is much better I suppose a surface area kind of thing

so I think for the price I will wire in another jbl gtx 500

they will both fit under the seat on the same board and at 500 rms at 2ohm

I may have to run another power wire

any thoughts?

swap meets are great! got another gtx 500 dirt cheap
testing it for the past 2 days at 4 ohms and it works great!
got some 4g wire on order and a pair of splitters
no pass through on these amps,
I use a lc1? to control the bass ,so I went with 3 ft so no extra lengths or connections to hassle with



yeah I know I am going to need a better alt and my battery is fairly new but going to get a premium one

but I needed to make a little bass now!

350 rms to 1000 rms is a nice step up, the 2 gtx dont even get warm and its boom Boom BOOM

I can feel the things practically blowing a steady stream of air pulses from the port up the door

have not really done more than 30 minutes and the charging system tells me its working hard 14.1 was always the # but its dropping to 13.6 while driving
well lets hope Christmas goes well and I can afford and alt upgrade
my lc1 got pinched and one side quit not really its fault but time to get another
all in all this was under 1k

2jbl gtx 500 $ 115 (swap 40 and amazon 75)
2 skar vd-10 $ 150
2 used kicker boxes $ 35
pioneer nex5000 used $ 150 new around $400
wires lc1 rca's misc $ 150
total $ 600


wont win me any contests but it does what I need and then a little more


hours invested....lots but thats the fun!

and for the purists, I can wrench like a pro but I dont fabricate well so I know my limits and building a box is out of my skill set
