Well, I actually did not come up with the specs on my own. I emailed manufacturer directly about this and I also asked about specs for an spl application. I figured since they are considered SQ subs for the most part I thought I would compensate some of that for some extra SPL. I know the recommended specs for vented enclosures are 1.75 cu ft. and smaller vent, also 32hz tuning is recommended. I am just curious what these SPL specs would look like when enclosure is done. I started with one 12w7 and I bought it with a custom 1" t line box to specs, it sounds really nice but I need it louder. I am not even sure if they go louder than they go now but am very curious what these specs and higher tune will do. Also, from my understanding a higher tuning does not necessarily mean the sub wont hit the lower frequencies, it just means it will hit more effeciently/louder around that frequency?
Since JL is known for the clean lows I also figured I would have compensation room in this area as well. Perhaps maybe these subs can really pound at that frequency (38hz)? Kind of a cool project to me. I know JL is being criticized more and more, just a long time fan who wants to see if they can Bump Bump for real like I mean feel the SPL a little more. They do still sound pretty powerful as is but dont think the boxes are right, I feel the specs are tuned for sq for both sealed and vented. I may be wrong I may be in denial
