Default What the hell is this?

My older sister has a mazda protege and she had a friend install this HU for her its a pioneer so maybe thats the problem. Pioneer is good but i know they have problems with blowing pico fuses i think it is? Is this the fuse that people are talking about? First off the guy hooked it up to the stock wire harness so its kind of a mess and when she turns it up too loud the fuse will blow. I took a look at it today after this has been happening for about 3 years since the guy installed it and she showed me the fuse she always has to change, wtf is this box thing? is it whats causing this to happen or can i just cut the box out and crimp the wires straight to each other? Maybe its not the problem? Any advice helps i want to cut the box out but i dont know if i can just do that or not.

I have never seen anything like that in a headunit install.

Looks like a noise filter on the power line with a fuse.

May want to make sure there isn't a reason for the fuse to blow before you cut it out... could be a short in one of the wires.
