I figure I would cut off the adapter thing. Would you hook it up like you would a HU? Yellow/red to power/constant, black to ground?
That's not an adapter ring, that's the frame. You'd hook a relay inline to the remote (as a trigger) on one leg of the coil, the other leg of the coil to ground and hook the power for the switched leads to the amp's 12V line and hook the fans red wires to the normally open switch pole. The fan grounds would need to be hooked to chassis ground. Cut the two thin wires on the fan from the pass thru, red is power (+) and black is ground.
Personally I'd go with 120's if you have the room. a 120mm can move as much air as 3 - 80mm units and produce less noise.
