Im fixing to start on my new panels and have a few questions...hope some of you guys can help me out.
This will be my 2nd attempt at fiberglassing. My first attempt was for panels for the same truck (93 ford ranger) but have since decided/learned different things i want to do to them so im makin new ones.
My questions for you are:
Would it be easier to make them on the panel without molds or should i make molds to make "pods". I want them to be all smoothed so im leaning away from the pods but could always mold them in with body filler i guess.
What is the steps you use to smooth the factory texture shit off the panels? Ive read that some sand what they can off and then use high build primer coat after coat to finish smoothing.
OH here is what the panels look like:
Lookin at this brought more question to my head:
that cloth part up top....last time i just used a few coats of resin to harden it up then bondoed over it to smooth that out...is there an easier way or do you kno of any tricks to take that off and remount it? Its plastic welded to it. if you kno of a way to take it off and a good way to remount it i may just recover it in something different.
