Cool Just installed a 14 volt battery in the Silverado ...

Just got done filming a little demo of an XS power D1400 14 volt battery installed in my 99 Silverado. For testing purposes, we set it up with the stock 105 amp GM alternator, an RD audio 1500 watt amp, and 2 12's to simulate a basic street audio system.

Voltage never fell below 16.0 volts at full tilt.

Well that doesn't help, he said the voltage doesn't drop below 16v on a stock alt.

if its a 14v battery that means he can charge it at 16v he more than likely used a VCM.

I always wondered this myself... I see ppl running 16-18v.. how does that work if every car works off 12v? I'm just very curious and might be interested in doing it if it may help things!!!

But if the output of the alt is 16v, wouldn't that fry something? I mean, he couldn't get the voltage to drop below 16v on music so everything stock in the truck was seeing well over the recommended voltage.

Most run a second alt, others use stepdown modules.

you can use step down moduals, they usually drop 2v's so you would be at 14v at your stock electrical
