Default Will this amp work with an IDQ sub?

Will a eD nine.2x work with a Image Dynamics IDQ10V2 dual 4 ohm subwoofer?

AMP
RMS Power @ 12.5v : 2 x 200W @ 4 Ohm, 2 x 300W @ 2 Ohm
RMS Power (Bridged) @ 12.5v :1 x 600W @ 4 Ohm

SUB
  • Voice Coils: Dual 4 Ohm
  • RMS Power Handling: 250 Watts
  • Program Power Handling: 500 Watts

IMHO, I would suggest a single channel class D. Whats your budget? You COULD run the amp bridged @ 8 ohms if you want to (~400rms).

To answer question though, you COULD run the amp bridged @ 8 ohms (~400rms).

How would I wire the amp to do 8 ohms? Will the sub be able to handle 8 ohms?

Honestly, given that you are new to the hobby, I would just wire each coil to it's own amp channel and run it that way. Less chance to hook something up wrong.

You wire the sub to 8 ohms, not the amp. Here is a wiring diagram and yes the amp will handle a 8 ohm load.

Will just 1 IDQ10v2 be enough for the trunk of a sedan or should I consider the IDQ12? Not looking to have my mirrors shake, just want the low end hitting crisply but loud enough so I know it is there.

for added bass and clarity a 10 would be fine but you will soon finding yoursellf saying man i wish it was louder. then you wind up like the rest of us lol. but go with your budget, and its always better to have to much than not enough

If I were to get the 12 inch (same price) can it be tuned to function as if it were 10 in case I don't need the extra loudness? The reason I considered a 10 in the first place was because I wanted very tight and controlled sound.

I figure if I get the 12, I would build an enclosure around .75cu of air space. Or is that a bit too small? I just want to avoid getting a 12 and then it being far too loud and then wishing I got the 10. I listen to 95% rock
