Elemental Designs dropping amp line
I know some people don't care for them but it's still kind of interesting
From Alex Linderman
Sorry for the delay guys, it was in no way intentional, just a busy week.
Its been no secret over the past two years that we have been growing, and growing hard in the home audio market. This is attributed to many things, one of which being the car audio market decreasing.
Want to keep growing as a company? What options do we have? Diversify into other markets, or fall to the way side like other car audio companies.
Car audio at this time, while still a good industry, is one which is dying. Not because of you guys, the consumers who are audio addicts. Its dying because of automotive manufacturers putting better stereos into vehicles from the factory. This combined with very complicated integration makes it difficult and expensive. Turning away a large chunk of potential clients. With the economy in shambles, it also makes it hard for everyone to purchase toys.
When the current line of NINe.X series amplifiers are sold out, they will be done. Its not to say they wont come back in the future, but do not count on it. 12 Volt Amplifier production is a large investment, especially to keep costs low enough but still offer a quality product like the NINe.X series.
This doesnt mean that we will be completely drop out of the car audio market, simply going to diversify in other markets which allow is to grow. How are we growing you ask? Simple....moving more production in house. This means more speakers built here, and more cabinets built here. Moving home audio production in house allows us to invest in our own company. Making us stronger, and overall better.
eDead, components, and raw subwoofers will still be offered. One thing we will continue to do, is build speakers which work well in small enclosures. This gives you the availability to still use them in car applications.
We are hoping to eventually offer another brand of amplifiers on our website that follows the same beliefs in product design, value, and performance. Just not Elemental Designs.
We have been talking about this slow change in blogs, and via phone conversations for two plus years now.
This was in no way meant to be offensive, or say that car audio sucks...It doesnt, we love it, its what got us started, and the car audio customers who have stuck with us over the years are the best. We appreciate everything you do, and we try to pay it forward.
Its you guys that make my days interesting, and why I enjoy coming to work. Im sure the same can be said from the other guys.
