Default G & S redline 12" subwoofer.

i got a 12" G & S redline performance series sub in a trade with a half blown volfenhag zx-7180. i've know g & s got shut down in about 01' by the competitors making low levels subs which pushed them out of the biz.

but does anyone know anything about these subs for about this one in particular. i know it wont handle much. the mag looks just like one you would see on a jl-w0 but just a lil bigger. it gets decent loud. but does anyone know anything about it.

and yes i did search the net for anything before i posted this. and nothing was to be found. except for other ppl on yahoo and random sites asking about them too. i can upload a pic of the mag but the wife has the car right now and i cant get a pic of the sub itself. and i cant find any on the net just for reference either.

sooo.....

can anyone help?

and also does anyone have any reviews on this amp?

volfenhag zx-7180

i know they dont put out the best product and would be compared to flea market stuffs. but maybe idk. i traded a tis 1800 watt 2 channel i had laying around for them so dont flame. the tis yes i know is wally world brand and all but was decent. andrew2006 on ca.com had it running those 4 12" swiss subs i had and it pumped them pretty nice. so let me know something

Thanks In Advance!

-Ray

oh ok coolio. it looks nice, to say the least. but i havent really heard much about the volfenhag amps, just that most ppl think they are crap. but like i said. that tis amp ppl would just say it's crap. but it pushed those 4 12's nice and never got hot. so imho it was a decent amp also.

Got a pic of the sub? G&S was the JL of the 80's and 90's. They made quality gear and charged a pretty penny for it too.

sorry for the 2 bad pix. my phone doesnt like the night. or artificial light most of the time. but it's works damn well in the sun lol.

but when the guy told me he had this sub. which i was desperate for anything til i save enough for my 15". lol. he told me he had a c2 subwoofer. and when i saw it i was like.(in my head) thats g and s.
i had 4 of the oldschool 10's i was gonna do a build with.(they were more or less. oversized midbass) but two of them were bad.

i would probably rate the woofer about my 150rms. maybe 250 if im lucky. seems to be handling 300rms pretty well though.

I'm not familiar with that era G&S, I've had the old school gear back when they had paper cones and red surrounds. It looks like the reason they went under is lowering the build quality. That's not near the sub the old ones were.

All GS are redline. Your sub was the last of the GS Redlines before the cast frames which ended it all for GS and it was equal to the "S" class that replaced it.

GS had two lines the S class and D class. The S class was low power and was model numbers GS8S, 10S, 12S. The D class was GSD10, GSD12.

The S class was plastic cone, the D class was aluminum cone. Both had cast frame silver baskets and both were silver with red surrounds the last year. The S class had a huge throw to it, but the motor was small and the voice coil was weak. They performed better than the VC could handle so they usually burnt. The D class was fantastic. I listen to mine every day in my home office and it still sounds good ten years later.

I used to sell GS Redline and Ample Audio in 2001. I have one of the last survivors of each from 2k1.

As a treat, here's the 2001 dealer wholesale price guide on them, which I can't believe was still in my file cabinet when I just looked (the land that time forgot). Markup was 50% on GS redline and easy to get since they came so cheap from the distributor.
