Default Mechman alt owners step in...

Do you have a stock length belt? Do you get any squeal? If not, what brand is it?

I don't have a mechman but I do have a pulley about the size of the one that comes on his alts. I had to get a smaller belt once I installed the new pulley. I get no squeal and everything works fine.

I have a shift kit on my car and I ended up switching to a Goodyear Gatorback belt, minimal slip/squeal now.

I have a Mechman but I don't have a stock belt (being a 2001 and all). When replacing you alternator it is always a good time to replace the belt (as it hasn't already been done in the last 2-3 years). Around 5 years / 50,000 miles is the life span of a belt. Gates or Goodyear both make good belts.

Length might be vehicle specific. H.O. Alts don't line up for my car so a bracket and longer belt was needed. I had to try like 2 or 3 to get the right length.
