Default Mach5 IXL 10"

Hi all, first post! Skipped the intro forum .

I've been looking at the 10" IXL for my cars substage, currently it is just running the stock BOSE system.

The sub will be running off a diamond viper d1200.1 ([email protected] 2ohm, [email protected] 1ohm) Along with a set of hertz hsk 165s (comps and coaxials)

The IXL seems like it would be a good fit for this system. However I have yet to read any reviews of it, so I am a bit unsure (going sheerly for SQ, don't care how loud it is). I am also unsure if I should go for the sealed or bass reflex version.

Suggestions, questions, comments?? I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this sort of question....

Haha fair enough, me too. I'll probably go with the BR then. Can you vouch for their sound quality, or point me to a review? Just wondering what this sub is comparable to.

i've been debating on running one for some time now, but just havn't pulled the trigger on buying it. i've heard countless people say they are great subs, and i allways see them recomended. i might just have to get one here this year and try it out.

Fair enough. I think I'll pick one up in the next few days and give it a shot. Can't really say no to it when it seems to stack up against subs that are easily twice as much money!

Hmm... is the recommended box size for this sub correct? 0.4 cubic feet seems rather.... tiny....

Sean (M5) over at SSA did a very thorough review (strictly sq) but I doubt it is still there. The IXL's are meant for quality of sound first and foremost. If they get 'loud' for folks I consider that a fringe benefit.

Best,
Mark

If its sound quality you want, 0.4 cubes will give you a nice flat response. Going larger will give more of a peaky response. If this is what you desire, then go for it.

Best,
Mark
