Thumbs down Hybrid Electrical

Well as most of you know, I'm getting a new car. 30 minutes before I went to put a down payment on the Vue, someone bought it....nutsack. As much as I don't like this, we have a family friend selling a Ford Escape Hybrid with like 20,000 miles on it for an awesome price. The guy is super anal about the car so it is immaculate. All records are there. Its a 4 banger so I'm not super pumped about it but whatever. It was brought up today about if I do batteries, there is another giant battery in the back, hence the whole hybrid thing. Is that a problem if I want to go ahead and put like an XS d1200 in the back? Do I need to upgrade the alt? Would that screw with the hybrid, or does the hybrid battery plug into the wall? Ideas?

05 Ford Escape Hybrid with 90,000 miles in immaculate condition with all service records and everything replaced for like $9,000. Worth It?

The 12v at 72v (IIRC, maybe its 36v) are different on those cars. They are isolated from each other. The alt will not effect the HV

The Hyrbid? In the examples I have seen the Hyrbid is charged from the Engine like a generator.

I was using my 06 Highlander Hybrid last season for street c & you will be fine just do not tap into the hybrid batteries. As for the alt you can change it but you wont notice a difference. I know on my hybrid you can rev the engine if it is in park, not sure if others are different. I would not do nothing to crazy. I was running 2 saz3500's with a pc2150 in the back with 6 runs of 0gauge. The only thing that was killing me I had no room up front for a bigger battery than a red top so it was killing me & my amps. The loudest burp I got off with that set up was a 151.7 & could never get a full burp off do to my amps cutting. This is why I got out of that street c class & am now using my tiburon for SSNW class with the same set up doing 152+. My highlander as of rite now just has 1 15" Sundown z with a saz1500 pushing it, Memphis 3004 for my mids & highs, 1 run of 0gauge & one optima in the back. If you have any other questions let me know.

Mine charges while you either brake or just by coasting with out accelerating. When I bought my highlander they made me watch a dvd on how to use this thing before I took it home. lol ya I pay 45k for it & they make me watch a dvd on how to work it lol. I have to say I love my hybrid though.

If you are just doing some components with an amp to run them you will be perfectly fine. JUST DONT TAP INTO THE HYBRID BATTERY lol. Just run the power wire straight from you stock battery under the hood like you would any other set up.
