Default Interchangeable ports... Can I win??

Hey guys today I helped my buddy build a box for his van. Problem is I dont know what calculator to use (I get different answers with all of them) and am hoping to get some creative ideas I suppose

The box is for 6 12's.

It is 50.25 wide, 27.25" tall and 22" deep. Using 5/8" wood (.625")

His deal was that he wanted interchangeable ports. Basically all the 6 subs are on the front of the box, with the port below it. All we did was cut a square 20" wide X 10" high hole and put T-nut inserts every 2 inches or so around the perimeter, to where we will "interchange" the ports

I also made a jig of the hole pattern so we can make the ports exactly the same.

His goal is to have a daily port, and an "spl" port.

I was just hoping someone could help me with what size port to use and the length needed at that size for the tune. Biggest it can be is 18.75" X 8.75" I suppose, and hes only got 22" depth sp hopefully it doesnt need to be to long

Hoping to use the rest of the extra 5/8" wood for the port.

I should also probly mention that the subs are tiny (hifonics 12's) and there are 6 2x2 cross braces if that needs to be taken a bit off the displacement

Anyone got input

It's single-layered 5/8"? (the enclosure)

Id look into more fiberglass layers on the outside aswell. But if you can tell me the net airspace inside, port area you want to try and port length you want to try I can tell you the tuning

Well wood alone internally I get 15.48 cubes

take away subs/bracing I get about 14.5 cubes

I havent researched his subs yet but I think a 34-36hz tune would probl be best. Im open to port area though. I figure the spl port would be big taking up the whole almost 200", butI dont know how big to make the daily port

And the depth behind the port is only 22"? what tuning are you looking for for spl?

Ya only 22" depth but I can possibly bend inside box or even make it slightly external.

I think he wanted 51 or 52hz for spl, Im more worried about getting the daily port built and show quality painted before his shop opening this weekend

Thank you

If what youve said is correct and you have a 200 sq inch port area with 16 inches of depth you come to these specs:

-12.42 cubes net
-39.5hz tuning
-200 sq inches of port area

I dont really know how high you want to go for the spl port but that's an example

One sec on a higher tuned port..

stop stop!! sorry you took my numbers a bit literal. The HOLE for the port is 20" X 10" so the port need to slide thru that, take away wood thickness and the biggest I can get is 18.75 X 8.75" (assuming I use this 5/8" wood) I could always build one out of fiberglass to decrease weight and thickness to gain port area

164", something like 13" per cube after displacements

Is that enough you think??

Ok, with a 4" long, 200 sq inch port you come to:

14.037 cubic feet net
49.6hz tuning
200 sq inches of port area

Haha well crap. Going to have to redo that too. And yea, that should work on port area...quite low imo though. A daily port may have to be done a bit differently
