Default Recone question, what to do?

Hey everyone! A few weeks ago, a good friend of mine purchased some recones from an outside source other than the subwoofer's manufacturer. Him and I installed the recones into the RD HW V.2 motors with no problem. Recones looked great!!! We build the enclosure to the specifications that the recone provider stated, installed everything... Boy did they get loud!!! A few days later, but not much listening (due to the alternator producing too much voltage ), my good buddy took his vehicle for a quick drive to the gym. One of the subs stopped working. He tried all he could do to figure out what the problem was. He eventually pulled the recone out and the recone provider had him send it in. Turns out that the solder joint under the dustcap and glue, was bad. The provider stated that the recone could have been saved, and they will not provide a warranty recone. So a faulty solder joint that the recone provider made, and won't warranty. Weird.

Anyway, second part of the story... Since the enclosure was out of the vehicle getting bedlined, both subs were out. My buddy gave his other subwoofer a good look, and the triple joint appears to be failing...

What would any of you gentlemen do?

Just curious.

If they are going to give bad workmanship and then fail to cover what is clearly their fault I'd say be done with them.

I would never use that recone provider again and I would publicize my bad experience with them regardless of "who" they are.

Only state facts and documented information. I wouldn't suggest posting what would be considered private or confidential information.

If they want to make it right with you, let them make it right publicly.

I agree. The subwoofers were not driven hard at all. The voice coils still appear as they were new.

It wouldn't be a huge deal if these were inexpensive. But over $400 was spent on 2 recones, only to have them break in less than a month's time. Not even a whole lot of play time.

Very true. But in all honesty, we shouldn't have to.

Anyway, warranty hasn't been declined for this recone. I just hope it's made right.

11ft for 2 18's
6.6 ohms so around 1500-2000 for both
and that is either a heavy weight or a super heavy weight
