Default Jh8909's new build Discussion thread

WARNING: there is a lot to read

okay, got a new car, not a whole lot of money at the moment, but I've recently decided to try some new things out and have a couple of options/routes to go but don't know which one to pick and need some help getting pushed one way or another.

I have currently:

1 10" RF power hx2
1 12" ID IDQv.3
CDT tweets and 4" mids plus 3 way crossovers, (only missing the 6.5's from the 3-way set)
set of planet audio 6.5 comps
set of planet audio 6x9 comps (currently installed)
Crescendo 1000c4 (currently installed)
1 big battery

Wants: I really am into SQ, but with the budget and car environment that I have I think I just want some loud crisp music with lots of bass.

I have a trunk car and whatever way it ends up I want to run a 3-way set up front and the subs sealed off from the trunk.

oh and whatever way I go I will not be using the 6x9's in. just an fyi

AMP: possible amp options are an ID 1200 watt amp (forget the model #) that can be had locally, or I will just have to put out money for a new sub amp.

Electrical: I already have a positive and negative run each of 1/0 going to the back.
I will be keeping my stock alt so don't want to go that much over 1500 watts. 2k would be the limit if I could pull it off.
the big 3 will be done. I have the wire, just need terms to install it.

What I am thinking right now would either be to get another 10 inch Power HX2 and go with a big ported box ported through the rear deck with a decent amp to power them

OR

get another idq 12 and go with two of them sealed in the rear deck to sound like pure sex

if i go the idq route I will pick up the idq 1200 watt amp locally.

if I go the hx2 route I will have to find an amp to power them at a decent budget and not sound like shit (NO AUDIOPIPE ALLOWED!)

So, basically what do i do?

6th order bandpass is usually more than twice as loud as ported enclosures. One 12 in a 6th order can be about as loud as four 12s sealed and it needs 1/4th the power to be that loud.

oh. sweet that sounds very intriguing then. I may need to get a design with aero's to port through the rear deck with that. should sound good that way I would hope.
