Default Relay Question

Will a relay work as a soft start for turn on pops?

I don't think a relay would be much different than the remote wire from your HU

I didnt think it would do very well since relays dont actually slowly start up like a true soft start, but this install I am doing had a relay for God knows what reason, which was screwing with the system and blowing fuses when it switched.

I guess the original installer was too lazy to run an extra wire, but the customer said that it may have been there as a soft start, which I personally thought kind of odd, so just checking to see if it could have been....

I have seen a tutorial on using a relay and some diodes and resisters to make a soft turn on. I will see if I can find where I saw it and post it up. Was there any other components or just the relay by itself? Ok found it here -

Yeah there are soft turn ons, pop stoppers, I was just trying to figure out why this relay was in this guys setup, he has had some real winners working on it and I'm trying to fix it all.

Lots of nice equipment, but poor installers.

I pulled the relay, it made no sense to me so it's gone.

We've found extra rca's and all sorts of unused wiring and connectors from previous incarnations stuffed all over behind the interior panels, wires going nowhere, stuff that should be hooked up not, it's a mess....

you are supposed to put in a relay if you are running a bunch of amps off of a single turn on wire
