Default Building box for two SDC2.5 15"s - First time AQ user.

Hi guys,

I have two SDC2.5 15" woofers coming my way for my buddy's truck.

This is my first time working with Audioque woofers, and after doing a little sniffing around here, I've noted a few things:

-Try to keep them around 600wrms, they like to get hot
-Tune to around 30-38hz
-About 4.5cuft each sub.

(Please correct me if I'm wrong.)

Now, i've done a few standard rectangular slot-ports before, but this time they're going in a truck, and need to be slanted. So far, I'm thinking sub forward, port up.

Do I want to put each sub in its own enclosure, and mount them up side by side, or should I build one large box, and one large port?

So far, I've got this to work with:

http://img64.imageshack.us/i/dannya.gif

(Forgot to draw 48" max width in there)

This is essentially just showing the max dimensions of my box. The way I do the port is still up in the air. I was thinking a simple L-port, but i can do it anyway, anywhere. Aeros are another option, but i'd prefer to just use the wood i've already got.

Thanks for the help in advance. I cant sleep, so I figured i'd toy with this.

All of what i've done so far is based off of things i've read here, as well as calculations from

http://www.bcae1.com/spboxnew2.htm

and

http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/boxcalcs.asp#por

Thanks again.

Personally, I listen to everything.

This kid listens to mostly rap.

In the past, i've always liked my shit tuned low, 28-32, maybe higher, depending on the woofer.

If these woofers have to be tuned higher, i guess we'll go around 35-38.

AQ recommends alittle higher tuning. they still can drop low. but are not bottom heavy subs.

for rap i recommend 35-38hz. unless its chopped and screwed music.

for me. my wall is tuned to 37hz. and it plays the rap i listen to just fine.

This build is for a buddy whos relatively new to car audio. At this point i'm just trying to make sure i've got all my bases covered so I dont look like the ******* who got him all setup wrong, hahaha.

35-38 it is.

I would be willing to say if you throw a 1000w at a SDC sub your more than likely going to fry the coils, I run mine at 750w and it gets warm to the touch.. But maybe I am wrong.

ive heard that you can throw that much power on them, you just gotta be smart with it like watching voltage clipping how your box is setup and not playing it max out for very long, the 15s will take that much power better than 10s, and if i dont tune it too low hopefully ill be fine but only one way to find out
