Default Ear issues anyone?

So, I'm sure we've all been sitting in our cars/trunks/vans with it wanging, and felt our ear drums vibrate inside our ears, had maybe a little ringing afterward, etc?

Well, the other day I was just heading to work in the AM. Didn't really even have the subs up that loud, maybe 50%. I get to work, and my right ear just starts to hurt. At first I'm like hm, thats odd, but its only like a 2/10 pain wise. Then within 30 mins that shit went up to like a 7/10. Throbbing constant pain. It felt like there was cotton in my ear and when I swallowed it crackled. If I burped or yawned it would be a stabbing 8.5/10 pain.

So at this point I'm like wtf? Ear infection? Can't be the subs, christ I didn't have them that loud at all. The pain lasted about a day and finally went away.

Next day I turned up the subs to like 70% for 30 seconds or so. When I turned them down my ear had the cotton feeling again. I was like .. shit. It was the subs. Makes sense its my right ear, as the port to my box were in the middle of my backseat, which would be hitting the right side of my head.

So I haven't been listening to them much at all as of late. I went to a club the other night and I had to leave in 10 minutes because the music hurt my right ear so bad. Then it rang for about an hour afterward. Its been like a week and when I swallow my right ear still crackles a bit. No insurance so I don't want to go to the doct just yet.

CLIFFS: Subs can jack up yo ears.
CLIFFS: I'm pretty sure I destroyed my right ear.

Anyone else ever have this happen?

I have vertigo ....A direct result from ear damage caused by high SPL.

Anybody else with vertigo? It's like a room spinning buzz out of nowhere

I get vertigo after a few too many beers... but I like it

I am pretty sure what you're experiencing isn't a direct result of SPL. I bet you have an ear infection that is being irritated by high volumes. No way if it jacked your right ear up that badly would it not affect the left at all. They sell OTC ear infection drops that work really well. I would treat it like an ear infection and see if it helps.

On the other hand, you may have ruptured your eardrum, but I doubt it because it woudl be like 7-8/10 pain for several hours. Ruptured ear drums do heal, but obviously can be reinjured/irritated by high volume.

The only time i ever noticed my ears getting worse is the last time i shot a gun. Normally the ringing would last for a few seconds. Now it turns into a few minutes. and i seem to be asking "what" a lot more often lately.

Had it for years, been to Dr. and all that jazz,no pain at this point.

Ruptured years ago and the fluid in my ear that's supposed to be there is thicker then normal and gets stuck on the sides of the tiny sensory hairs that are in there and weigh them down causing them to stick.True vertigo my man.

It has eased off a lot since I haven't had any bass in my ride in over a year
