Default The unoffical "what do you use for Fans" thread

orite. so summer is here and that means our amps are working just a little bit harder against the heat. My sundown runs pretty good never hot to the touch but sometimes when the sun beats on my trunk she will be pretty warm when its over 90 degrees out. So I thought to myself? Well why should the amp get hotter because of the extra heat? Not to mention they don't get much air flow as it is anyway. And my speaker amps as well.

So I was thinking of getting one of these bad boys.

http://www.subtilisaudio.com/product...oling-Fan.html

43cfm is nice for 2 amps I think. So I will just wire these to the remote on the amp and I believe that should be good enough. They only draw .19 amps. So I am sure it will be fine to run constantly.

What else is out there besides these? I wanted to go a little skinners or maybe a dual sided one so I can put it between amps.

I wonder if anyone has ever adapted a computer water cooling system for car amplifier use? It just seems that fans wouldn't really do much...

both of my backseats stay folded down so the amps usually cool down after 10-15 mins with the a/c on blast

yea I'm in the same situation as I just put my amps in the spare tire location. I know the air flow is very limited. I wish there was a way I can use like a thin hose and add it to my under seat a/c vent and get it back there some how!! that would be awsome!!

They used to run liquid cooled back in the day with the Orion amps. They took the handles off and the liquid would run through the heatsink.
